Christmas Cards
Do you make your own Christmas cards?
If
cards aren’t flat enough they need extra postage and may even need to be
processed as a parcel… yikes! I’m not paying for that!
Keeping cards flat can be a challenge. There are so many
beautiful embellishments and sparkly things for decorating cards, it’s
nearly impossible to resist all of the goodies.
Avoid these chunky goodies such as bells, buttons, pom
poms, etc (even though they are wonderful!). I know, they are
gorgeous, but these embellishments will quickly make your card too thick and
heavy, resulting in extra postage required!
Here are some tips you can make mail-friendly, flat cards that have texture, dimension and sparkle. Decorate your handmade beauties with any of the following NEW products:
Easily create 3D effects and add texture to
cardstock.
Apply paint to project, heat set using a Heat Tool (AC p. 181), and paint puffs up. Nontoxic.

OTHER MAILING TIPS
Try to enjoy the process of making your Christmas
cards! Soon they will be done and in the mail carrying your warm holiday wishes
to the special people in your life.
- Mail your cards as early as possible, but not more than a week before November 20th. Ideally you want your cards to arrive in early or mid December.
- Use your own handwriting wherever possible, especially on the outside of the envelopes and signatures inside the cards. This will give your cards a personal touch
- Include your return address on all cards. The return address serves many purposes. First, the recipient will know who the card is from right away. Also, it ensures that they have your current address every year and they can use it to send a card back to you if they haven’t already.
